Next Saturday, MARCH 8, you can see Altar of Freedom in action at the annual HMGS Cold Wars convention. The Battle of Shiloh will be played at 1:00pm, where you can check out our custom 4'x4' Shiloh board first-hand. There are lots of other great historical games to see, so stop by and find us at Cold Wars 2014!

And just in case you still need a copy of the rules, Altar of Freedom will be available for sale from Brigade Games in the vendor hall. See you next weekend in Lancaster, Pennsylvania!

Wish I could be there. I will be at HISTORICON 14. I recently picked up ATLANTA IS OURS to complete the collection. I like the system.

Played in the 1pm game at Cold Wars. Great game. Great game system.

Mechanics of the game made you feel that, while you were the army commander, things were really out of your hands. You might be issuing the orders, but who knows if they were going to be followed... especially with the "turn clock" adding uncertainty just when the turn would end. Nerve wracking to say the least, but by the end of the game I had a better appreciation for what U.S.Grant was probably feeling by the end of April 6... just hanging on to the field around Pittsburg Landing with my back to the Tennessee river, just praying that night would fall before his army was destroyed.
