I am new to gaming and am looking for a rules set that allows for fortifications and gunboats along with land combat. Does this Vicksburg scenario allow for that, or do you know of a system that does? Thank you for your time.

Hi Alan,
The Vicksburg campaign doesn’t include river based action, although I am sure it would be possible to work it in. The Shiloh scenario from the Western campaigns scenario book (Atlanta is Ours) does include the use of a gunboat to simulate the two gunboats available for the Union. I use the Peter Pig resin 1:600 models (easier for me to obtain in the UK) which work well with both 6mm and 3mm figures. Peter Pig also produces a very straightforward set of ACW naval rules called Hammerin’ Iron.

Hi gents,
I’ve been wargaming for about 40 years and for the last 5 years have been interested in wars in the new world! I’m very keen on FIW and AWI! But am somewhat drawn to ACW and keen to give it a go, probably in 6mm, a scale I haven’t used for 20 years. I’ve been watching Little TV, congratulations on your professionalism and dedication to scotch! Oh and the show.

I am looking to get involved in AoF, I plan on building a 6mm force based by the recommended basing of AoF. I am in the Columbus Ga. area.
