When previewing what's ahead in 2017 for Altar of Freedom at the end of last year, I promised a new scenario would be made available this winter. That scenario can now be downloaded as a PDF from our Free Downloads page--The Battle of Globe Tavern. This is a fascinating action in the Petersburg campaign, where Grant tasked Meade with cutting a critical railroad supplying the Confederates in the city. With Lee distracted north of Petersburg, command of the city was left to General P.G.T. Beauregard. He acted swiftly to counter the Federal threat and this small scenario puts players in the midst of a very interesting, two-day battle. |
A single 6'x4' tabletop covers the entire Petersburg front and gives players a great feel for how thinly manned the trenches could be and how desperate each side became to find the open flank of the other. In addition to the free scenario, you can also check out a photo-filled AAR of Globe Tavern being played at our local club. Next week, I'll post a new terrain tutorial showing the step-by-step process used to make the 6mm Petersburg forts and trenches seen in the AAR. Globe Tavern now brings our total available scenario count to 40! More free stuff will continue to flow here at 6mmACW.com as a way of thanking all the players who have bought the rules and supplements since 2013.

Greg - Thanks for the scenario. Questions 1) Does each fort come with its on integral artillery? and 2) What is meant by "take no offensive fire" in special rule #3?

Mitch: 1) Yes, each fort comes with it's own artillery. This is above and beyond whatever artillery is listed on the OOBs. 2) The forts are not a "division" which means they will never have priority, and thus, no offensive fire. They will only get defensive fire whenever an enemy unit comes within range and moves.

Many thanks for another splendid scenario. I have managed to convince yet another member of the Liverpool club to get involved, so he is now building a Union army.

I've been wanting to play this game for the last year or so, starting building my Confederate Army, but I can't find any gaming clubs near me (Summerville,SC). Wish I could get some people to play with me cause this looks interesting

It has been some time since anything was updated. How is the recent campaign game coming along? Are there anymore plans? I understand that other things come up and can delay all of this. Hope all is well. Mitch
